This figurative watercolor painting is titled "Blonde" as I thought this model was kind of glamours and had a bit of attitude. Her name is Dana. In this posed I sort of imagined her hitching a ride to Hollywood.
The painting is 10x8" and ready to be framed in any standard matted photo frame as shown (in the example picture). It is a quick study from one of my Skokie Art Guild figure drawing/painting workshops where we have live models and group critique Saturday mornings at the Devonshire Cultural Center.
The background is pretty much the white of the paper to create more focus on the pose itself. My technique is similar to Chinese brushwork artists who use a single color ink: this is essentially a contour drawing using a bit of subtle shading after lines were executed. In this case - besides black, I used 3 other colors: yellow, brown, and rose. This was a 10 minute pose - so the artist must capture the essence of the figure quickly and when contour painting with watercolor- you either get it right the first time or you don't.
My watercolors provide a very affordable means for folks to collect original Art de Joie work. enJOY! The painting is on 90lb cold press watercolor paper and ships unframed via USPS.
