Story Behind the Painting

This painting is titled "Thunder Gate". It is of the Kaminarimon which is the Buddhist structure welcoming people to the temple grounds of Sensō-ji, in Tokyo, Japan.

I made the visitors sort of anime-like, to reinforce the culture I experienced as a tourist myself and further emphasize the vibrant red lantern set against a commercial, modern backdrop.
