Story Behind the Painting
This view is from inside the Tower of London. There were a number of popular scenes I could have chosen to paint. I was fascinated by the beefeater guy, though. It was about 95 degrees and I though this poor fellow must be dying wearing that hat - all for formality sake. Apparently, several English Queens used to live here at least temporarily and therefore necessitated the guard. I visited the Tower doing a bit of extra sight-seeing on a business trip with my friend and IT partner, Dana who was very familiar with London hot spots. I would highly recommend visiting both the Tower and Westminster Abbey as it helps to better imagine the backdrop to many popular Tudor stories.
