Story Behind the Painting

This is a photo-realism painting I created from my Grandfather's faded sepia photograph. My grandmother, Lila, used to paint from Granddaddy's photography and while I typically only use my own - I made an exception this time as the painting was a gift for my father to fully preserve the essence of the image in highly archive-quality oil paint. The seascape painting is quite similar but not exact as hand-drawn and I probably punched up the subtle color and moody quality of the piece a bit further. I used several different types of brushes to achieve the varied water effects.
